Financial Assistance Program Overview
Hunt Memorial Hospital District provides financial assistance for medically necessary care to uninsured and under-insured Hunt County residents who have limited resources to pay for services.
Who Qualifies
Residency: Must be a Hunt County resident on or before date of service
Income: Family income at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Guidelines
Citizenship: U.S. Citizen or legal resident (Student VISAs and Permanent Residency Cards accepted)
Coverage: 100% write-off of eligible charges once approved

Applications are available upon request and require documentation of residence, income, and household members.

What’s Covered
- Medically necessary hospital services at HMHD facilities
- HMHD physician services
- Services must meet Medicaid medical necessity guidelines
- Excludes elective procedures, durable medical equipment, and supplies
Approval valid for: Up to 6 months from first eligible date of service
Appeal Process
If your application is denied, you have the right to appeal within one month of the denial date. Submit a written appeal with supporting documentation to the Financial Assistance Office.
Important Information
- You must apply for Medicaid and other programs before Financial Assistance approval
- Report any changes in income, address, or household within 14 days
