Compassionate Care at Hunt Regional Healthcare
Hunt Regional Healthcare is proud to have a compassionate medical team ready to serve community members in a health crisis at any moment. Hearing the impact Hunt Regional has in each unique story is encouraging, and it’s an honor to be able to share these successes for others to celebrate alongside us and each patient.
An Unexpected Health Emergency
Ronny Ivy, a Commerce resident, did not plan to spend the new year at an emergency department. His ten-year battle with chronic syncope episodes (sudden drop in heart rate or blood pressure leading to fainting) had required many medical visits through the years but recently had worsened, causing a severe fall. While experiencing a fainting episode on January 4th, 2025, Ivy fell, hitting his right leg and resulting in a large swollen wound.
Receiving Urgent Care at Hunt Regional
Ivy, with the help of his mother, was able to get to Hunt Regional Emergency Medical Center at Commerce, where Dr. Erum Akhter determined he should be admitted for further treatment. He was transported by ambulance to Hunt Regional Medical Center Greenville and admitted to the fourth-floor inpatient Cardiovascular Unit (CVU).
A Dedicated Team Finds a Solution
While at the medical center, Ivy states, “A variety of specialties and medical staff were involved in my care. I have had this health problem for about ten years, and the team at Hunt Regional was able to find a treatment plan that has helped a lot with my chronic syncope episodes. I am very appreciative to everyone involved in my hospital stay. It was above and beyond what I could have ever expected.”
Collaborative Care Across Multiple Specialties
Many departments played a role in Ivy’s care while he was an inpatient. He praised specialists Dr. Akhter (Hospitalist), Dr. Amiparar (Infectious Disease), Jessica Greenway, FNP (Wound Care), Ron Barrett, PA (Cardiology), and Dr. Wilson (Orthopedics & Sports Medicine), and nurses Juanita Tutt, Amy Sprague, Carmailla Jacobs, Amy Holt, Ellie Chennault, and Krystal Martinez, for being incredibly kind and professional during his four-day inpatient stay.
A Journey Toward Recovery
His complete recovery is still ongoing, but Ivy has come a long way in his health journey and is making excellent progress as he continues to heal.
