Level 3 NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
High-Risk Pregnancy and Critically Ill Infant Care
Some babies need a little extra help getting started in life. Take comfort in knowing the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hunt Regional Medical Center offers the highest level of care, provided by our team of neonatologists. Our NICU provides advanced services and technologies for the newest member of your family and specialized care during high-risk pregnancies.
Babies born prematurely or who suffer an illness can now remain in Greenville, Texas rather than be transferred to other hospitals to receive life-saving care. This is important because it means parents can interact with their babies throughout their hospital stay without having to travel back and forth.
Level 3 NICU Care
NICUs are categorized into Level 1 for normal newborn infants requiring additional nursing care, Level 2 for moderately ill infants or Level 3 for the most complex and severely ill babies. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Hunt Regional Medical Center has a Level 3 ranking and provides around-the-clock advanced treatment for premature, low birth-weight, and critically ill infants.
Specialized Services for Infants
Because premature infants have underdeveloped organs, they require special care and attention until their systems are better developed. To help these little ones, we provide specialized equipment such as a CPAP machine. The CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) gently inflates your baby’s lungs and helps keep them open.
The NICU at Hunt Regional Medical Center is also part of the Baby Friendly Initiative, a global effort by the best hospitals to help mothers breastfeed babies for the optimum start in life.
Our NICU transport team is a specialty unit that provides inter-facility ambulance transportation for babies.
Your family is our priority
The highest level of medical care is important. But so is your family. Babies do best surrounded by those who love them. At our NICU, your family is a priority. We want you to be comfortable and cared for, too.
