Hunt Regional Medical Center recently installed two automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for public access, thanks to a donation by Hunt Regional’s auxiliary group. Now in it’s seventh year, Bras for the Cause has become an annual staple in the Greenville community, with hundreds of people crowding the downtown streets at each event to view elaborately decorated bras and raise money for cancer treatment in Hunt County. More than $28,000 was raised at last Tuesday’s first-ever sponsor party, where Bras for the Cause organizers announced their next project as a UV light sterilization unit for the Lou and Jack Finney Cancer Center.

Hospital schedules partial power outage as part of third floor renovation

The renovations to the third floor patient rooms at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville are on schedule, according to facilities director Keith Buckman. The construction project is one part of many changes the hospital will see this year as they focus on upgrading their patient experience. The updated rooms will increase the square footage of each room, providing a more comfortable space for in-room patient care.

Hunt Regional Medical Center restricts visitors under age 12

In order to prevent the spread of influenza during this year’s flu season and for the protection of hospital patients, Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville has implemented a temporary visitor restriction policy restricting visitors under the age of 12. In addition, hospital officials request that anyone exhibiting flu-like symptoms including fever, cough or other respiratory symptoms not visit patients in the hospital. Visitors under the age of 12 are also discouraged from accompanying parents or siblings in the emergency room waiting room as this may increase the risk of transmission.

E-Corps unveils new vehicle

The Commerce Emergency Corps (E-Corps), which responds to emergency calls outside the city limits of Commerce, recently unveiled their updated response vehicle. During the November bond election, voters approved the construction of two freestanding emergency departments by Hunt Regional Healthcare in Commerce and Quinlan. As part of their commitment to improving emergency care throughout Hunt County, Hunt Regional Healthcare has pledged funds to first responder groups throughout the area in preparation for higher call volumes and expansion of response territory. Additional requests from Lone Oak, Cash and Commerce are currently pending. Construction on the Commerce facility will begin in July.

Podiatry residents win best in state for presentation
