If your physician has told you that you need a change in your lifestyle
to reduce your risk of heart problems, the Cardiac Rehabilitation
program at Hunt Regional Medical Center at Greenville is for you.
Cardiac Rehabilitation is a program developed to fit your specific
needs. A multidisciplinary team promotes behaviors to help you and
your family adapt to a new life style.

A comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation program, which supplements
your primary physician's care, begins with a referral to the program
from your physician.
The program is directed toward restoring and maintaining optimal
physiological, psychological, vocational, and social well-being
while reducing the risk of future heart problems.
Eligibility
You may enter this program if you have or have had any of the following
procedures or conditions:
- Acute myocardial infarction
- Coronary-prone individuals (one or more established major risk
factors)
- Valvular heart disease
- Myocardial disease with history of congestive heart failure
- Atherosclerotic heart disease
- Angina pectoris or abnormal stress test
- Angioplasty or artherectomy
- Pacemaker or AICD
- Coronary artery bypass surgery
- Heart transplant
Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program includes:
Inpatient Care
- Our Physical Therapy Team assists with early recovery following
your cardiac event.
Outpatient Care
- Begins with a referral from your cardiologist to our Cardiac
Rehabilitation Center.
- One of the rehabilitation team performs an individual clinical
evaluation
- Our outpatient process includes monitored, physician supervised
exercise sessions for up to 12 weeks.
- We supplement your exercise sessions with information that helps
you learn how make the changes necessary for a healthier lifestyle.
Maintenance Rehabilitation
- Provides follow-up to maintain cardiovascular fitness for those
who complete the 12-week program.
- Is low cost.
- Is a self-directed, RN supervised program.
- Includes monthly EKG rhythm analysis and blood pressure check
- Includes quarterly body fat analysis
Inpatient Care and Outpatient Care are reimbursable health services.
The hospital will file with your insurance company.
Respiratory Therapy Rehabilitation
Respiratory therapy rehab is designed to alleviate respiratory
symptoms, optimize daily functions and activities, and improve any
disability from chronic respiratory disease.
To participate in the respiratory rehab program, a patient must
have one or more diagnoses including (but not limited to)
- Emphysema
- Chronic bronchitis without exacerbation
- Chronic airway obstruction
Patients should undergo apulmonary function study before starting
their rehab program to identify their classification of disease
(stage I through IV). The patient should also have a six minute
walk test prior to beginning treatment.
The program provides education and exercises twice a week for 6-12
weeks. Participation is limited to 72 lifetime sessions. Patients
will be closely followed by RN’s, PT’s, RT’s and
a physician.
William Cantrell, M.D. is the medical director for Respiratory
Therapy Rehab. The therapy is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays,
11a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Mary Rich Lynch Rehabilitation Center.
